Goalie Pads – Reebok L9 Larceny

Posted on

Danny’s growth and usage has started a break down of his Bauer Vapor X55 pads.  One strap has been cut, another is splitting and his catcher has had a few things let go.  Needless to say almost 2 years out of them has been good considering his in them at least three times a week.  So off we went to Perani’s as a necessary evil.  He was able to choose pads and a color he wanted as a result he went with the Reebok Larceny L9 pads, blocker and Catcher.   Here they are!

Dearborn Hooligans WIN!

Well Danny got the nod to start this evening’s game against the Suburban Stars in Farmington, Michigan.  The game got off to a rocky start with Suburban out playing the Hooligans.  By the end of the second period, the Hooligans were down 3-0, but in the third period the Hooligans rallied back with four unanswered goals.  A fifth goal was missed on an open net opportunity when the puck sailed high and over the open net.

Danny was fortunate enough to play last Sunday in the Dearborn Belle Tire Hooligans vs Taylor Belle Tire 2 game in Dearborn, Michigan.  This was Danny’s first game after returning from Disney and he earned himself a shut out.  Good job Danny

Here Comes Hockey

Well it is official, the 2011 – 2012 Winter Hockey season is here.  Both boys start up the Winter fun of running to different Rinks.  This year, Danny is playing Travel hockey again with the Dearborn Belle Tire Midget A travel team.  This team is comprised of boys 15 and 16 years old.  We may be traveling all around Southern Michigan for games.  Lets see where this takes us.

James has decided to play house hockey for his coach from last year.  A few of the kids he played with are moving forward and made the same team.  I for one get to be an assistant coach so I’ll be back on the ice passing along knowledge.  James is playing for the Great Lakes Sharks, and will be playing out of Fraser Michigan.

Be sure to wish the boys good luck.

Future Pro Goalie School Summer Camp 2011

Posted on

Danny was able to attend the Future Pro Camp this past summer in Troy Michigan.  Previously he had attended the two weekend camp in Mount Clemens, Michigan.  This camp was much more intense.  Keeks had out ECHL, AHL, and NHL shooters out for this year’s Elite class.

With 10 hour of off ice training coupled with at least 20 hours of on ice time, Danny has really brought his game up.  I will say that these Camps are some of the best run, ones I have seen.  I also have another son who is a forward and found that his camps have been good to him but the organization was considerably lacking in comparison to the Future Pro Camps.  I will also say that poor Danny not only had the time mentioned above but also had five straight days of High School Hockey as well.  Between the camp, the practices and games he had over 37 hours of ice time over five days.

He now has a real understanding of the time involved and dedication required to play at High Levels.  I suspect that his upcoming season will be a successful one where ever he decides to play.

Thank you to Keeks, AJ, Jeremy and all of the instructors at Future Pro.
